  1. To use QB1S v1.21 on your IBM-compatible with the Super Video Windows
  2. board:

  4. 1. Log on to GEnie using your regular communications program.
  5.  
  6. 2. Move to the GEnie menu page for QB1 (1030).
  7.  
  8. 3. Select the "Play QB1" option from the menu page.
  9.  
  10. 4. Wait for the message "Please run your QB1 graphics program now" to
  11.    appear on your screen.
  12.  
  13. 5. Run QB1S.EXE from within your communications program (if
  14.    possible), OR exit your communications program and type "QB1S"
  15.    (without the quotes) at the DOS command prompt.

  19. The following special keys are used to control the QB1S program:

  21.      F8             toggle "/SEN " prepending on text input line
  22.      F9             send "/USE"

  73. The Super Video Windows file VIDEO.INI must be in the current
  74. directory when you run QB1S. The Super Video Windows TV Tuner should
  75. be installed (using VCONFIG or VCONFIGD) as "Source1".

  79. The review buffer will be enabled if enough memory is available to
  80. support it.

  84. If your modem and computer support the DCD (carrier detect) signal,
  85. and QB1S detects a loss of carrier during game play, the message
  86. "CARRIER LOST" will appear on the screen; press any key to exit the
  87. program. If this happens spuriously, when you have not actually lost
  88. carrier, hold down either Alt key during startup to disable carrier
  89. checking completely.

  93. If a Microsoft Mouse-compatible pointing device is attached to your
  94. system, it will be enabled when QB1 is run. You can use the pointing
  95. device in place of the numeric keypad to call plays - just point at
  96. the key graphic on the screen and click either button. If the keypad
  97. graphic does not currently appear on the screen, pressing either
  98. button will pop it up. To disable an attached pointing device, hold
  99. down either Shift key during startup.

  103. QB1S.EXE is initially configured to use the serial port at COM1
  104. (using IRQ4). If your modem is connected to COM2 (IRQ3), COM3 (IRQ4),
  105. or COM4 (IRQ3), you can modify your copy of QB1S to use a different
  106. COM port by typing "QB1S #" (without the quotes) from the DOS command
  107. prompt, where "#" is the number of the COM port you wish to use. This
  108. command should be issued _once_, to configure QB1S to use that COM
  109. port - once properly configured, just run the program by typing
  110. "QB1S", as instructed above.
